A Texas man is behind bars after allegedly murdering his wife and leaving her body to be discovered by their two young children. Josue Rodas, 29, has been charged with murder and is currently being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center on a $500,000 bond, according to jail records.

The heartbreaking crime took place over Labor Day weekend in Fort Worth and has left both family members and the community in shock.

A Temporary Stay Ends in Tragedy

According to an arrest affidavit, Rodas, his 21-year-old wife Glenda Maria Aguilera Rubio, and their two children had recently moved into a home on the 2600 block of Yeager Street in Fort Worth. The plan was to stay for a few nights before relocating out of state.

They were temporarily living there after a family dispute at their previous residence, during which Rodas allegedly pointed a firearm at relatives, the affidavit stated. The house they moved into was already occupied by another woman, her son, and a male tenant who rented a room.

Alcohol, Arguments, and a Silent Night

On the night of Friday, August 27, Rodas and Rubio were reportedly drinking alcohol with the male tenant. The man went to bed between 10 and 11 p.m., while the other woman in the house arrived home around midnight and noticed the couple was still drinking. She later went to sleep at approximately 1:30 a.m.

No one in the house knew that the night would end in violence.

Children Wake to Find Their Mother Dead

At around 7 a.m. Saturday, the couple’s two children entered the woman’s bedroom and asked her to check on their mother, saying she had “blood on her.” When the woman entered the kitchen, where Rubio had been sleeping on a bed, she found the 21-year-old mother with a gunshot wound to the head.

The front door was wide open, and Rubio’s 2013 Toyota Corolla was missing.

Authorities later confirmed that nearby surveillance footage captured a vehicle matching hers driving away around 4 a.m.

Suspect Confesses to Police in Another City

While Fort Worth police were beginning their investigation, word came in that Rodas had been detained by Sweetwater Police, about three hours away. Rodas had driven to a gas station and called 911 on himself.

According to reports, when an officer asked why he had called, Rodas allegedly confessed to committing a homicide in Fort Worth. He didn’t give many other details at the time.

Rodas was then arrested and transferred to the Tarrant County Jail on Tuesday. As of now, there is no public information about his next court appearance.

Children Left to Witness the Aftermath

Perhaps the most disturbing part of this case is that the couple’s children were the first to find their mother dead. Their horrifying discovery has raised further questions about domestic violence, mental health, and the emotional trauma that surviving children must now endure.

Child welfare services and victim support programs are likely to be involved, though no official statement has been made regarding their care.

The alleged murder of Glenda Maria Aguilera Rubio is another grim reminder of the growing concerns surrounding domestic violence.

With Josue Rodas in custody and charged with murder, legal proceedings are now underway, but two young children are left without both parents — one taken by violence, and the other behind bars.
