East Chambers Independent School District (ISD) has a new superintendent following the retirement of Scott Campbell, who served in the role for nearly 28 years. Andrea Smith, formerly the assistant superintendent, officially took on her new role on Tuesday, marking the beginning of her leadership at the district.
Smith’s Vision for Leadership
As she assumes her new position, Smith emphasized her commitment to leading with “integrity, transparency, and a student-first mindset.” She expressed her belief in the importance of strong relationships, particularly the connection between teachers and students, as the foundation of effective education.
Smith’s Background and Career
Smith has been with East Chambers ISD since 2018, initially serving as a principal. The district, based in Winnie and the unincorporated areas of Chambers County, serves approximately 1,550 students across its primary, elementary, junior high, and high school campuses.
Scott Campbell’s Retirement
Scott Campbell, a 1979 graduate of East Chambers High School, retired in August after nearly three decades as superintendent. Reflecting on his career, Campbell said, “From my days as a student to my years as superintendent, East Chambers has been home.
I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve in the place that gave me so much.”
