Authorities say a 23-year-old woman from England was arrested at Miami International Airport after allegedly attempting to take another woman’s 4-year-old son. The incident caused panic among travelers and required several bystanders to step in.

The Airport Encounter

According to an arrest report, Alvina Agba, 23, noticed a mother and her young son at a checkout counter on Tuesday morning. The boy was crying, and Agba reportedly offered to help calm him down. The mother agreed and allowed Agba to hold the child.

But instead of returning him, police say Agba began walking away with the boy still in her arms.

Mother and Witnesses Intervene

The child’s mother immediately demanded her son back, but Agba allegedly refused, telling her, “No, this is my child.” Witnesses reported seeing Agba sit on the floor, wrapping her arms and legs around the boy while pushing the mother away.

When onlookers managed to pull the boy free, Agba allegedly tried to grab him back. One witness, Naylet Montano, told WFOR that she took the child and hid behind a counter for safety while Agba tried to crawl underneath to reach them. Three men stepped in to block her until deputies arrived.

Police Response and Statements

Sheriff’s deputies quickly apprehended Agba at an airport checkpoint. When questioned, she claimed she only wanted to take the boy to see a rainbow wall to calm him down. She also allegedly told investigators that she acted because “God told her to do it.”

Charges Filed

Agba was charged with:

Interference of custody (felony)

Two misdemeanor counts of battery

She is being held at Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation and was expected to appear before a judge later that day.

What began as a routine airport wait turned frightening when a woman allegedly tried to take a child from his mother. Thanks to quick action from witnesses and law enforcement, the boy was safely reunited with his mother. Agba now faces serious charges as authorities investigate her motives.
