Authorities in Texas say a 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend tortured her younger brother over several days, leading to his death earlier this year. Both teens are now facing serious charges as the investigation continues.
The Charges
Kara Walker, 17, has been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed. She was arrested more than six months after her brother’s death.
Her boyfriend, Nolan Stallings, 18, was previously arrested on the same charge and indicted last week. Both are accused of brutally abusing the boy, who has not been publicly identified.
What Happened to the Child
Investigators believe the abuse occurred on February 10, 2025, at Stallings’ home on Greendell Street in Highlands, near Houston. Court records accuse Walker of beating her 8-year-old brother with a blunt object, while Stallings allegedly struck the child with his hand, a blunt object, and other unknown objects.
The boy was later taken to a hospital with severe injuries consistent with abuse. Sadly, he died a few days later.
Arrests and Legal Proceedings
Stallings was first arrested on March 4 and remains in the Harris County Jail on a $1 million bond. He requested a bond reduction, arguing the incident happened nine days before his 18th birthday and that he was still a student, but the judge denied the motion.
Walker was arrested on Wednesday and is being held on a $100,000 bond. Her next court date is scheduled for Tuesday.
Contradicting Explanations
According to local reports, Stallings told investigators the boy “fell down a lot.” However, police determined his injuries were consistent with repeated abuse and not accidental falls. Authorities have not released a clear motive for the alleged torture.
