The remains of a missing San Diego-area woman, 65-year-old Nadine Jett, have been discovered, and authorities are now working to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.
Jett, a former divorce and family law attorney, was last seen by her foster daughters in December 2023, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Discovery of Human Remains
On July 16, investigators executed a search warrant on a 20-acre property in Valley Center, California, about 40 miles northeast of San Diego. They discovered skeletal remains while searching for Jett, who had been reported missing. The remains were later confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s Office to belong to Jett.
Unanswered Questions and Ongoing Investigation
At the time of the discovery, no arrests had been made, and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Jett’s death. Detectives are pursuing all leads, though authorities have yet to make any significant progress on identifying those responsible.
The property where the remains were found belonged to Jett. Her foster daughters, Tiffany and Paris Lucci, along with several other family members and friends, had been concerned about her disappearance.
They claim to have communicated with Jett’s caretaker, who had been a former foster son, but he told them she was too ill to speak and later claimed she had died and been cremated in Mexico—without providing any official documentation, including a death certificate.
Suspicion Surrounding Caretaker’s Actions
According to the Lucci sisters, a realtor working to sell Jett’s property became suspicious of the caretaker’s actions and alerted investigators. The realtor reportedly said the house sale fell through due to the caretaker’s refusal to provide a death certificate and his repeated disappearances.
The Lucci sisters and others have been actively searching for answers since Jett was first reported missing, with Tiffany expressing her pain and frustration at the lack of clarity around her mother figure’s death. “It’s still gonna be a fight, you know, to find out who did this and why did they do it,” she said.
A Community in Mourning and Seeking Justice
Jett’s foster daughters remember her fondly as a mother figure who was always there for them, attending their events and guiding them through life. They are now determined to seek justice for the woman who had such a profound impact on their lives.
