Wilmington, NC — A North Carolina couple has been arrested following a disturbing discovery of injuries on their 2-month-old baby. Marion L. Hoffman III, 27, and his girlfriend Brittany Marie Zito, 24, are facing serious charges after their infant was brought to the emergency room with several broken bones.

Baby Found with Multiple Fractures

The baby was taken to the hospital on July 3, where medical staff discovered alarming injuries, including a skull fracture, a broken right femur, and five broken ribs.

The severity of the injuries led authorities to investigate the parents. According to arrest records, Hoffman and Zito are accused of causing the injuries, resulting in their arrest on felony charges.

Investigation by Police and Social Services

The Wilmington Police Department, in collaboration with the Department of Social Services, launched a thorough investigation into the incident. This investigation led to the issuance of arrest warrants for Hoffman and Zito, who were arrested on Tuesday.

Court Appearance and Bail Set

Both parents made their first court appearance on Wednesday, where they were each placed under a $300,000 bond. They face felony charges of intentional child abuse with serious physical injury and negligent child abuse with serious physical injury.
