Santa Fe Man Arrested After Café Theft and Police Assault

On August 21, 2025, Santa Fe police responded to a welfare check at Armadilleaux Café, 13230 FM 1764 Rd, Suite A, in Santa Fe, Texas.

Incident at the Café

According to staff, a man entered the restaurant, went into the general manager’s office, and stole bank bags containing cash before leaving in a white Dodge minivan.

Arrest on IH 45

La Marque Police officers later spotted the suspect’s vehicle near FM 1764 and IH 45. A traffic stop was carried out on the southbound feeder road in the 6400 block of IH 45, where the suspect was taken into custody. During the arrest, a La Marque officer was injured. The stolen bank bags were recovered from the vehicle.

Suspect Identified

Police identified the suspect as 46-year-old Eric Mitchell Eaves of Santa Fe, Texas. He was booked into the Galveston County Jail on the following charges:

Theft between $750–$2,500 — bond set at $2,500

Assault of a Peace Officer — bond set at $60,000

Resist Arrest/Search/Transport — bond set at $2,500

Eaves’ total bond was set at $65,000.

Police Response

The Santa Fe Police Department expressed gratitude to all agencies that assisted in quickly resolving the incident.
