North Shore High School’s football program has established itself as a national powerhouse, with a history of success that is unmatched in the state of Texas. The program, a symbol of pride for the community and Galena Park ISD, continues to uphold high expectations for every player who wears the Mustang red.

A Legacy of Winning

With five state titles and nearly 30 playoff appearances, North Shore football is one of the most storied programs in Texas. Over the past seven years, the Mustangs have posted an incredible 104-7 record under former Head Coach Jon Kay, now defensive coordinator at Rice University, and current Head Coach Willie Gaston.

2025 Season Outlook

As the Mustangs gear up for the 2025 season, they are once again a favorite to contend for the 6A state championship. Their season opener on August 29 will see them travel to Dallas to face another Texas powerhouse, South Oak Cliff, in a highly anticipated matchup.

KPRC 2 Sports visited North Shore to cover their practice as they prepare for the big game. Fans can catch all the action during KPRC 2’s Friday Football Frenzy, which kicks off its 20th season next Friday at 10:15 p.m. on KPRC 2.
