A Florida road rage altercation ended tragically with the death of a local charter boat captain, Joseph Hall Jr., who was fatally shot by another driver, Jaden Harris, 24, after an argument about driving too slowly. The incident, which took place on Thursday evening in Sanford, a suburb of Orlando, has left the community in shock.
The Fatal Road Rage Dispute
The confrontation began when Harris allegedly became frustrated with Hall’s slow driving. According to Harris, he was “blocked in” by Hall after attempting to leave a parking lot.
Harris, who was driving a white BMW sedan, confronted Hall, who was behind the wheel of a Jeep Gladiator. After a verbal exchange, Harris allegedly fired multiple shots at Hall, who was found bleeding outside the vehicle.
Harris’ Claims and Witness Statements
In his police interview, Harris claimed that the shooting was a result of Hall blocking him from leaving the apartment complex. He said he had to act in self-defense after Hall approached his car.
However, witnesses at the scene painted a different picture, noting that the argument escalated quickly into a shooting. One witness reported hearing several gunshots after seeing Hall running from Harris.
The Events Leading Up to the Shooting
According to police, surveillance footage shows Harris aggressively pursuing Hall’s vehicle before the two men stopped at a sign. Harris allegedly claimed that Hall provoked the situation by calling him derogatory names before speeding off.
When they reached the apartment complex, Hall reportedly blocked Harris’ exit, leading to an intense confrontation.
Harris, who was armed, allegedly ordered Hall to “back away” before firing the first shot. He claimed that Hall lunged toward his vehicle, which prompted him to shoot. However, neither Harris nor any witnesses indicated that Hall was armed or had caused any harm to justify the use of deadly force.

Police allege that Harris followed Hall unnecessarily through multiple locations, even after having opportunities to disengage. He was described as maliciously pursuing Hall in an attempt to gather information about his vehicle without a valid reason.
