What started as a close friendship ended in tragedy — and now, two people are behind bars. On the same day her boyfriend was sentenced to life in prison for a deadly shooting, a 21-year-old Virginia woman named Kaylee Turner also admitted her role in the crime.

From Best Friends to Deadly Enemies

Dustin Dove and Seth Wallace had been best friends since 2022. But things turned ugly after Dove was sent to jail in early 2024 on drug charges. During this time, his girlfriend, Kaylee Turner, claimed that Wallace had behaved “inappropriately” towards her.

When Dove learned about this, he and Wallace exchanged a series of angry and threatening text messages. According to evidence shared in court, Dove sent messages like, “Dog, I’m going to destroy you,” and “I’m going to get away with it.”

He even filmed himself wearing a mask and holding the same AR-15-style gun later used in the shooting.

A Plan Turns Deadly

On the night of May 25, 2024, Turner and Dove seemed to have made a plan. Turner texted Wallace, saying she was on her way to meet him — and she drove herself and Dove to Wallace’s location.

Investigators said Wallace called Turner at 4:17 a.m., but it’s unclear if she picked up. Just minutes later, around 4:18 to 4:20 a.m., Wallace was shot multiple times. Turner later texted Wallace, saying, “Help, he has me at gunpoint,” possibly to make it seem like she wasn’t involved.

Sadly, Wallace didn’t survive. He died two weeks later from infections caused by nine gunshot wounds.

Disturbing Aftermath and Guilty Pleas

Months after the killing, Dove reportedly wrote and performed a rap song over the jail phone, with disturbing lyrics like, “He was my best friend, now he’s dead meat.”

On August 16, 2025, Dove was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Wallace. Just hours later, Turner stood before the same court and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder as a principal in the second degree.

She was sentenced to 30 years, but most of it was suspended. She will serve 11 years and six months in prison, followed by five years of probation. If she breaks the terms of her probation, she could be ordered to serve the remaining 18 years and six months behind bars.

In court, Turner apologised, saying, “I’m very sorry. I apologise for my actions in this situation.” But the judge, Paul Dryer, wasn’t convinced. He said she didn’t seem truly sorry for her role in the crime and expressed concern over the plea deal.

This heartbreaking case shows how quickly friendships can turn toxic, especially when trust is broken and anger takes control. It also highlights the dangers of taking justice into your own hands. In the end, one life was lost, and two more were destroyed.

It’s a sad reminder that violence leaves a lasting impact — not just on the people directly involved, but also on their families, friends, and communities.
