Tony Curry, 29, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and firearm offenses following the shooting death of Memphis store owner Shaton Cobb on June 13.
The incident occurred after Curry’s mother got into a physical altercation with Cobb earlier in the day at Tires Llantas on Winchester Road.
The Fight and Aftermath
The dispute between Cobb and Curry’s mother escalated when she sprayed him with pepper spray, and Cobb responded by pushing her to the ground.
Hours later, Curry arrived at the shop asking for Cobb, and after a brief conversation, he pulled out a gun and shot Cobb several times, also injuring another employee in the process.
Victim Identifies the Shooter
The injured employee, who was shot in the legs, quickly identified Curry as the shooter. When presented with a photo lineup, she confidently selected Curry, confirming his involvement in the attack.
Legal Charges and Detention
Curry was arrested and is being held in Shelby County under no bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
