Grady Suggs III, 32, has pleaded no contest to charges related to a January crash that killed 32-year-old Amanda Rogers. Suggs, who was reportedly “super drunk,” crashed his truck into a tree while Rogers was a passenger.
After the crash, he fled on foot, leaving Rogers behind, where she was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
Blood Alcohol Level and Fleeing Arrest
Suggs’ blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.213, nearly three times the legal limit. After the crash, he fled the scene, was tracked down by police, and then escaped once again while receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Suggs was eventually caught and arrested.
Charges and Legal Outcome
Suggs pleaded no contest to charges of operating a motor vehicle with a high alcohol content causing death and failure to stop at a personal injury accident. With a “super drunk” BAC, Suggs faces additional penalties, including a potential longer prison sentence and required alcohol rehabilitation.
Victim’s Legacy
Amanda Rogers, a mother of two, is survived by her children, parents, and a twin sister. A sentencing date for Suggs has not yet been set.
