A significant move has been made toward the creation of the Midline development in League City as the City Council votes in favor of rezoning a 466-acre tract of land for a planned unit development (PUD).

What You Need to Know

During its August 12 meeting, the League City City Council approved the first reading of a request to rezone the 466-acre property. The vote was 7-1 in favor of the rezoning, which would pave the way for a mixed-use development in the area.

Location and Details of the Development

The land in question is located to the west of I-45, south of FM 528, north of Grissom Road, and between Bay Area Boulevard and West NASA Boulevard.

The proposed development includes 1,337 single-family homes, 50 acres of commercial space, a 15-acre city park, private parkland, and a 4-acre site designated for a fire station at Beamer Road and Grissom Road.

Additionally, the plan proposes two gas stations—one at Beamer Road and Grissom Road, and the other at Beamer Road and FM 528.

Opposition and Council Discussion

Council member Andy Mann cast the lone dissenting vote against the rezoning request but did not elaborate on his reasons during the meeting.

The second and final reading of the rezoning request will be heard at the League City City Council meeting on August 26. If approved, the project will move forward toward development.
