A Texas woman who runs a home-based daycare has been arrested after allegedly leaving five children in a hot parked car while she went shopping at a local grocery store. The incident, which occurred in Houston, Texas, has led to charges of child endangerment against the daycare operator.
The Dangerous Incident
Domonique L. Wilson, 32, was taken into custody and charged with five felony counts of child endangerment following the shocking event that took place on August 1, 2025.
According to court records, Wilson drove five children she was caring for, along with her two children, to a Kroger grocery store located at 6300 Telephone Road. While she took her two children into the store, she allegedly left the other five children in her vehicle, which was parked outside in 91-degree heat.
Witnesses reportedly found the children, ranging in age from 10 months to 8 years, in distress. The children were described as red-faced and crying.
Court filings say Wilson “intentionally and knowingly” placed the children in imminent danger by leaving them in the hot car, where the air conditioning was not running and the window was barely cracked.
Day Care License and Past Inspections
Wilson operates a licensed daycare called “My Little Angels” out of her home on Stone Street in Houston. The daycare is permitted to serve infants, toddlers, and kindergarteners, with a maximum capacity of three children at a time.
Texas state records show that the daycare has been inspected twice, most recently in April 2025, with no deficiencies noted. Additionally, no complaints had been filed against the daycare prior to this incident.
Witnesses and Store Manager’s Actions
A store manager witnessed the children in the car and reportedly rushed to alert the authorities. The manager, who noticed the children were visibly sweating and uncomfortable, immediately sought help from an officer.
The witness confirmed that Wilson had claimed the children were hers and that the car’s air conditioning was on, but the manager disagreed, insisting the car was not running and the children were in a dangerous condition. Surveillance footage from the store revealed the children had been left in the car for over 40 minutes.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Wilson’s actions have led to her being held in Harris County Jail on a $10,000 bond. She is facing serious charges of child endangerment, and her next court date is set for October 15. The case has raised concerns over daycare safety and the responsibility of caregivers, especially in situations that could have led to severe harm or death.
Community Concern and Ongoing Investigation
The situation has sparked concern in the community, with many questioning how such a dangerous decision could be made. While Wilson’s daycare was previously free of complaints or violations, this incident has brought to light the risks involved in leaving children unattended in extreme conditions.
