Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos who once made headlines as the youngest self-made billionaire, has now been photographed inside a Texas prison, living a very different life from her tech glory days. New photos show her during her regular workout, offering a rare look at how she spends her time behind bars.
Spotted in the Prison Yard
On Saturday, August 2, Elizabeth Holmes, now 41, was seen in the outdoor yard of Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Bryan, Texas. She was walking with free weights in her hands, wearing a simple grey T-shirt and shorts, along with a baseball cap, gloves, a watch, and glasses.
Her once well-known red lipstick was replaced with a fuchsia tone, and despite everything, she appeared to be smiling.
Holmes was once one of the most talked-about names in the tech world, but that changed after serious fraud allegations. Still, in prison, she seems to be following a routine and trying to stay positive.
Her Daily Routine Behind Bars
In an earlier interview with PEOPLE magazine, Holmes gave insight into her life in prison. She wakes up around 5:00 a.m. every day, eats fruit for breakfast, and then completes a 40-minute workout session. Her fitness routine includes lifting weights, rowing, and running on the track.
She lives in a dormitory-style setup inside the prison, which she has now gotten used to over time.
Visits from Her Children
One of the most emotional parts of her prison life, according to Holmes, is seeing her children. She has two young kids: William (4 years old) and Invicta (2 years old), with her partner Billy Evans. She gets to meet them twice a week inside the prison.
Watching her children leave at the end of each visit is heartbreaking for her. “The people I love the most have to walk away as I stand here, a prisoner,” she told PEOPLE, adding that those moments “shatter” her.
What Led to Her Conviction?
Elizabeth Holmes started Theranos, a health technology company, at the age of 19 in 2003. She claimed that her company had developed a revolutionary blood-testing device. By 2014, she became a billionaire and was celebrated worldwide.
However, things took a drastic turn when the Wall Street Journal revealed in 2015 that her company’s devices didn’t work as claimed. After a long legal battle, she was found guilty in 2022 of three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
She began her prison sentence on May 30, 2023, and is scheduled to be released on April 3, 2032.
Holmes on Her Life Now
In her own words, Holmes said, “I’m not the same person I was back then.” She maintains her innocence and still believes the truth will come out one day. She describes her prison experience as “hell and torture,” but says she is surviving with faith.
Elizabeth Holmes, once the face of innovation and success in Silicon Valley, is now living a quiet and structured life inside a Texas prison. With her daily workout, simple lifestyle, and regular family visits, she appears to be adjusting to her new reality.
While her past continues to follow her, Holmes is focused on surviving each day behind bars, holding on to hope that the truth will eventually come out.
