A Tennessee man, Duriell Williams, has been arrested after allegedly threatening to harm his baby daughter and her mother during a terrifying incident in Memphis. Williams, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment following the disturbing event that took place in early June.
What Happened?
On June 6, 2025, a woman reported to the Memphis Police Department that her child’s father, Duriell Williams, assaulted both her and their 5-month-old daughter while visiting their apartment in Washington Manor, Memphis.
According to a Shelby County criminal affidavit, Williams came to the apartment and initially asked the woman to step outside to talk. Once outside, he requested to hold their infant daughter.
While holding the child, Williams allegedly made a chilling threat, saying, “You don’t think I’d throw her over the railing.” He then proceeded to hold the infant’s feet over the second-story balcony railing, knowingly placing her in immediate danger.
The mother managed to pull the baby away from him and ran back into the apartment. However, the situation escalated further.
According to the affidavit, Williams pulled out a gun and threatened to “shoot up the apartment,” where several other children were present. Fearful of what he might do, the woman went outside to meet him once again.
The Threatening Encounter
Once outside, Williams allegedly pointed the gun at the woman and taunted her, asking, “Are you ready to die?” However, the situation took a turn when Williams noticed neighbors nearby, which led him to leave the area.
The Arrest
Following the frightening encounter, Williams was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment. He is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $100,500 bond. His next court date is scheduled for August 4, 2025.
