A 24-year-old man, Shakir Moss, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly trying to shoot a father in South Memphis after a dispute involving the children’s mother and the mother’s friend. Moss faces four charges of attempted first-degree murder following the incident on April 23, 2025, on West Ball Road.

The confrontation, according to police reports, began when Moss’ friend challenged the father to a fistfight after a disagreement between the father and the mother of his children.

The Dispute and Shooting Incident

The victim, who was at the home to pick up his kids, got into an argument with the children’s mother. The mother’s friend, who lived with her, called over two other men, including Moss, to the scene.

Police say Moss arrived with a handgun and threatened the father, telling him, “I got a couple bodies under my name. I will kill you.” Despite the threat, the father tried to get his children into the car and leave. However, as he was attempting to drive away, Moss opened fire and hit the vehicle at least once.

Moss Faces Serious Charges

Following the shooting, Moss was arrested and charged with multiple counts of attempted first-degree murder. Court documents reveal that Moss has a history of legal troubles, with at least five active cases in the system. He is being held on a $2,025,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Tuesday.

This violent incident highlights the escalating tensions between individuals, especially when emotions are high during family disputes. The quick thinking of the father, who was trying to protect his children, likely saved his life.

However, Moss’ actions, including the deadly threat and the shooting, have led to serious legal consequences. The case serves as a reminder of how quickly conflicts can turn dangerous, and the importance of resolving disputes peacefully.
