A Florida man, Victor Colon, has been arrested over a year after allegedly pointing a gun at a victim, pulling the trigger, and making chilling threats. Colon, 62, is facing armed robbery charges following an incident that occurred in Miami-Dade County on December 14, 2023.
The arrest happened more than a year later, and Colon remains in jail without bond as of Thursday afternoon.
Incident Details
According to an affidavit obtained by local news outlet WPLG, the alleged victim and his father reported the incident to authorities three days after it happened. The victim, who was playing video games at his mother’s house at the time, said Colon burst into his room, cursing at him.
In an attempt to protect himself, the victim started recording the encounter on his phone and tried to escape, but Colon stopped him by grabbing his shirt.
Gun Threats and Violence
Colon reportedly pulled out a gun during the encounter, taking the victim’s phone from his hand and pressing the firearm to the victim’s head. He allegedly said, “I should kill you.”
In a chilling moment, Colon reportedly removed a bullet from the chamber of the gun, then placed the gun back to the victim’s head and pulled the trigger. Thankfully, no bullet was fired.
During the altercation, Colon also reportedly threatened to bury the victim, saying, “I should bury you in the back with the rest of them.”
The situation escalated as Colon asked the victim’s mother whether he should shoot her son, to which she responded, “No.” The incident became even more violent as Colon began slapping the victim in the face.
Victim Escapes and Colon’s Arrest
The victim saw an opportunity to escape when Colon went to the bathroom, and he fled the house to safety. The report did not specify why it took nearly two years for Colon to be arrested. At the time of his arrest, Colon did not have a listed attorney in the court records.
As of Thursday afternoon, Colon remained incarcerated at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, with no bond set for his release.
Victor Colon’s arrest marks the resolution of a violent robbery and threat incident that had been delayed in its legal progression. Despite the chilling threats and use of a firearm, the victim managed to escape, and Colon faces serious charges for his actions.
His lack of legal representation in court and extended time before his arrest raises questions about the delays in bringing him into custody.
