A 21-year-old woman from Florida was arrested at Miami International Airport earlier this month after she falsely claimed to have a bomb in her luggage. She also allegedly tried to make the women and children leave the area while keeping the men behind.

The woman, identified as Aliyah Evans, faces serious charges, including making a false bomb threat and causing a disturbance.

What Happened at the Airport?

On the morning of July 1, 2025, airport deputies responded to a call about a woman at the JetBlue ticket counter. Witnesses reported hearing her say that she had a bomb in her carry-on bag. She also showed her cellphone, which appeared to display a timer, and said, “I need children and women to leave and for men to stay.”

Evans then placed the bag, which she claimed contained a bomb, on the floor in front of the counter and tried to get past other passengers to reach the security checkpoint.

How Authorities Responded

A TSA manager and Border Protection agents were nearby and quickly noticed the situation. They detained Evans and alerted law enforcement. Sheriff’s deputies soon arrived, and Evans was described as acting “erratic,” screaming and causing chaos as they tried to speak with her.

A bomb squad and K-9s searched Evans’ bag and her person but found no bomb.

Causing Disruption

In addition to the bomb threat, Evans knocked over airport equipment, causing further confusion and delays. The disturbance created panic and delayed other travelers and employees.

Arrest and Legal Consequences

Evans was taken into custody and questioned, but she chose not to speak during the investigation. After posting a $150 bond, she was released from jail. She is scheduled for a court appearance on July 31, 2025, for her arraignment.

A judge also ordered that Evans not return to Miami International Airport.
