Corey Adams was found in a vehicle by deputies at around 10:14 p.m. local time on the night of the shooting. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to the scene near Fern Glade Cove, a residential area in Cordova.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered multiple shell casings and learned that four adult males had been driven to area hospitals with gunshot wounds. Adams, unfortunately, did not survive the attack despite deputies performing “life-saving measures” at the scene.
Adams, a defensive end for the Ole Miss Rebels, was later pronounced dead by the Shelby County Fire Department (SCFD). The other victims, who were also shot, are reported to be in noncritical condition. The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide.
