A Florida man is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting his 17-year-old boyfriend at a gas station. The shooting took place on May 30, and police say the motive was connected to the victim, Nosiah Santos, attempting to end the relationship.
The Shooting Incident
Henry Jonathan Valencia, 23, is currently being held at the Marion County Jail without bond. He was arrested after police investigated the shooting death of Nosiah Santos at a gas station in Marion County.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the two men, who were in a relationship, arrived together at the Petro gas station. A verbal argument between them escalated when Valencia allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Santos. After the shooting, Valencia reportedly fled the scene.
A Mother’s Heartbreaking Experience
Nosiah Santos’ mother, Lydia Albino, shared a heartbreaking story with a local news station, WOFL, describing how she was on the phone with her son during the argument. She told reporters that she heard her son repeatedly tell Valencia that he wanted to end the relationship because of emotional distress and that he was only 17 years old.
Santos even told Valencia that his mother was on the way to pick him up. Albino rushed to the gas station, only to find her son on the ground with a gunshot wound. Tragically, he did not survive.
Albino said she was unable to recognize her son’s face and was left asking if he was alive. The police confirmed that Santos was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
What Led to the Shooting?
Police reports say that the argument began because Valencia was upset over Santos allegedly messaging other men. After the initial argument, Valencia drove away but returned shortly afterward to continue the fight.
At this point, Santos reportedly tried to disengage, but Valencia allegedly shot him. Before driving away, Valencia also reportedly struck Santos several times in the head. He then fled to Jacksonville, where he was eventually arrested.
Valencia’s Arrest and Charges
Valencia was arrested on Friday in Jacksonville. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held without bond. His arraignment is scheduled for August 12, where he will face the charges in court.
The tragic death of Nosiah Santos has deeply affected his family and friends. This case sheds light on the dangers of toxic relationships and the extreme consequences that can arise from unresolved conflict. As the investigation continues, the family seeks justice for the loss of their beloved son.
