The widow of Eddie Zamora, who was tragically shot and killed at a restaurant last Friday, now believes her husband may have been targeted. Zamora was shot to death while meeting a former coworker, Kenneth Leon Scott, for a drink at Bubba’s 33 restaurant.
Murder Charges Filed Against Former Coworker
Kenneth Leon Scott, the man Zamora met that night, has already been charged with murder. However, Zamora’s attorney, Mark Morasch, says the story is more complex than it initially appeared.
“This might be one of the strangest scenarios I have ever seen in my 30 years of practicing law,” said Morasch, who had been hired by Zamora in May to defend him against allegations of molesting a family member.
The Case That Led to the Tragic Shooting
Morasch recalled how he had spoken to Zamora just minutes before the tragic event. In their conversation, they discussed taking a polygraph test, which Zamora had agreed to.
He was preparing for a grand jury hearing and believed the polygraph would help his case. Unfortunately, Zamora never had the chance to take the test.
According to Morasch, right after their phone call, Zamora called his wife and spoke to her for 5 to 10 minutes. He was on his way to Bubba’s 33 to meet Scott, who had been pressuring him for months to meet up.
Despite being asked by Scott not to bring his wife, Zamora agreed to meet him alone. Moments after arriving, he was shot and killed.
Possible Motive Behind the Shooting
Zamora’s widow now believes the shooting may be linked to her husband’s criminal charges and his ongoing family disputes, including a previous family court case with his ex-wife.
Pasadena police and Harris County sheriffs are reportedly looking into every aspect of Zamora’s life, including his civil cases, to understand the motive behind the shooting.
Morasch, who initially dismissed the idea that Zamora may have been targeted, now finds the situation suspicious. “Originally someone voiced that concern, and I just laughed it off. And I was thinking it can’t be. Now it’s very suspicious,” he said.
Scott Arrested, Investigation Continues
Scott was arrested in Fayette County and charged with murder. He is currently being held there and has not yet been extradited to Harris County. Meanwhile, Zamora’s widow is preparing for his funeral, and ABC13 reached out to his ex-wife for comment, but she had no response.
The tragic death of Eddie Zamora has left his family and attorney searching for answers. The investigation into his murder continues, and authorities are exploring all possible motives, including the ongoing legal issues in his personal life. As the case unfolds, more details may emerge that could shed light on why Zamora was killed.
