An Alabama man, Antonio Tremayne Weldon Jr., has been accused of causing two separate fatal hit-and-run accidents in a span of just a few months. Authorities believe that Weldon, 24, was under the influence of alcohol during both incidents.
These tragic crashes left two people dead, including a 13-year-old boy and a 34-year-old woman. Weldon now faces serious charges, including reckless manslaughter, and is being held in jail while awaiting trial.
The Fatal Incident Involving Braylen Hardy
The first tragedy occurred on October 26, 2024, when 13-year-old Braylen Hardy was struck and killed by a car while sitting on his ATV in front of his home. Hardy had been out riding with his father earlier that evening.
According to his uncle, Billy Fagness, Hardy parked his ATV on the grass and sidewalk in front of his house when the incident occurred. A vehicle, allegedly driven by Weldon, jumped the curb and hit the young boy.
At the time, reports mentioned that shots were fired near the location of the accident, and a speeding car was seen fleeing the scene. After the crash, Weldon reportedly ran from his vehicle but was arrested a few blocks away.
Although Hardy was critically injured and placed on a ventilator at the hospital, he tragically passed away three days later.
Weldon was questioned by the Birmingham Police after his arrest but was initially released. However, after further investigation, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office charged Weldon with reckless manslaughter on July 8, 2025.
The Second Tragedy Involving Michelle Lynn Dickerson
Months later, on March 29, 2025, another fatal hit-and-run incident occurred. Michelle Lynn Dickerson, 34, was riding her bicycle in Birmingham when she was struck by a vehicle.
She died the following day from her injuries. Authorities believe that Weldon was responsible for this crash as well, though it remains unclear whether the same vehicle was used in both incidents.
The Alleged Role of Alcohol
In both crashes, authorities believe that alcohol played a role in the accidents. Weldon is accused of driving under the influence at the time of both incidents, contributing to the deadly consequences.
The families of the victims have been left devastated by the loss of their loved ones. Hardy’s family, in particular, is struggling to understand how such a tragedy could have occurred.
Weldon’s Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Weldon is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $30,000 bond. He faces two counts of reckless manslaughter in connection with the fatal crashes.
While it is unclear whether the same vehicle was involved in both incidents, the charges against him are serious, and the community is mourning the loss of two lives taken too soon.
The events surrounding Antonio Tremayne Weldon Jr.’s alleged involvement in two fatal hit-and-run accidents have shocked the Alabama community.
With alcohol suspected to be a contributing factor, the loss of 13-year-old Braylen Hardy and 34-year-old Michelle Lynn Dickerson highlights the dangers of reckless driving. Weldon now faces the consequences of his actions, as both families continue to cope with the heartbreak of losing loved ones.
