A tragic incident in Minneapolis has led to the death of 25-year-old Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman, allegedly at the hands of his 21-year-old roommate, Sincir Malik Porter. Porter is now in jail facing murder charges after confessing to stabbing Abdirahman following an argument over just $15.
What Happened on Sunday?
On Sunday, police were called to a home in Minneapolis where they found a disturbing scene. A large amount of blood covered the floor and walls of the living room.
Inside, they discovered Abdirahman on the floor with a stab wound to his neck. He was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, he was declared dead shortly after.
Argument Over $15 Turns Deadly
According to witnesses, Porter and Abdirahman had been arguing before the stabbing. The argument centered on $15, which seemed to spark the violence. One witness told police they initially thought the two were just fighting with punches, but then saw blood coming from Abdirahman’s neck.
Porter allegedly told another witness that Abdirahman “made me flash out,” suggesting the argument had triggered his violent outburst.
Surveillance Video Catches the Attack
The home where the crime took place had surveillance cameras, and investigators obtained the footage. The video showed Porter and Abdirahman arguing while Porter held a knife in one hand.
During the fight, Porter allegedly switched hands and stabbed Abdirahman in the neck. The video showed Abdirahman preparing to defend himself, not realizing that he had already been stabbed. He was seen collapsing shortly afterward.
Porter Admits to the Crime
Porter was found a short time later by police in a different part of the neighborhood. When he saw the officers, he reportedly said, “Yeah, you got me.” After being read his rights, Porter allegedly admitted to the stabbing.
He told police that he had thought about killing not only Abdirahman but also his other roommates in the past. Porter also added that his other roommates were “lucky they didn’t get in his way.”
Charges and Arrest
Porter was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Hennepin County Jail on a $1 million bond. Porter was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for his initial hearing.
