A 17-year-old girl in Georgia is facing serious charges after allegedly killing her mother and stepfather inside their home. Sarah Patrick, from Tyus, Georgia, is accused of shooting James and Kristin Brock to death in February, while her 6-year-old sister was also in the house at the time.
The young girl, who discovered the bodies, reportedly told her older sister, Sarah, who then called 911.
The Tragic Discovery
On February 20, 2025, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Sarah Patrick reporting that her mother and stepfather had been found dead inside their home.
Authorities arrived at the residence on Carrollton Tyus Road and found James Brock, 45, and Kristin Brock, 41, dead from gunshot wounds. The couple lived with their two daughters, and it was the youngest child who discovered the tragic scene.
Ashley Hulsey, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, shared the heartbreaking details of the case during a news conference. “To me, she is probably the saddest victim in all this,” Hulsey said of the 6-year-old girl, who was unaware of the violence before finding her parents.
According to Hulsey, the little girl found the bodies and then went to Sarah, who made the 911 call.
Investigating the Murder
The investigation into the deaths revealed mounting evidence linking Sarah Patrick to the crime. James Brock’s death was especially tragic, as he had survived numerous heart surgeries and was reportedly waiting for a heart transplant at the time of his death.
Hulsey pointed out that despite having received so many chances to live, James Brock’s life was cut short by his stepdaughter’s alleged actions. The loss has been devastating not only for the family but also for the young daughter who will now grow up without both of her parents.
Sarah Patrick has been charged as an adult with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Hulsey emphasized that the investigation was ongoing and that authorities were looking into whether anyone else helped Patrick cover up the crime.
When asked if Patrick tried to hide what happened, Hulsey noted that Sarah did not immediately reveal the truth to authorities, raising questions about her involvement.
The Teen’s Arrest
This week, Sarah Patrick’s biological father reportedly turned her in to police after they informed him about the arrest warrants for her involvement in the deaths of James and Kristin Brock. “It’s very possible others are involved as well,” Hulsey stated, mentioning that investigators are still working with Sarah and gathering more information.
