A bizarre incident in Key West has landed a Florida man behind bars after he allegedly stole a Conch Tour Train while high on methamphetamine. The man, Jonathan Patrick Winslow, took the joyride on his 57th birthday, picking up unsuspecting passengers before being caught by police.

The Stolen Tour Train

On July 4, 2025, authorities in Key West were alerted that a Conch Tour Train had been stolen from its depot. The train, which is a popular way for tourists to explore the area, was tracked via GPS as it made its way around the city.

When police arrived at the Conch Tour Train Depot, employees explained that a man, later identified as Winslow, had arrived and claimed to be a former employee. He asked if he could take the train for a ride, and the staff allowed him to do so. Winslow, however, did not return the train as expected.

A Birthday Joyride

The 57-year-old, celebrating his birthday, left his Kia behind at the depot with the engine still running and rock music blaring from the car’s radio.

Winslow’s joyride was short-lived but included a stop to pick up two random passengers who unknowingly joined an unauthorized tour. At some point, Winslow abandoned the train, and authorities located it without incident.

The Arrest

The police soon located Winslow, who was reportedly “excited” and speaking rapidly. When questioned by officers, Winslow told them he had just “borrowed” the train and added that it was his birthday. However, this information did not sway the officers, and Winslow was arrested.

The Meth Pipe and Charges

During his arrest, a meth pipe was found on Winslow, and he allegedly tried to pass it off as a “weed pipe.” Despite his claim, the police were not convinced. Winslow now faces charges of burglary, theft, and possession of drug equipment.

He is being held in the Monroe County Jail with a bond set at $60,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 17, 2025.

This strange and reckless event in Key West highlights not only the bizarre behavior linked to drug use but also the risks involved in stealing and operating public transportation.

Winslow’s attempt to take a joyride on his birthday has now left him facing serious legal consequences, and his actions have turned his special day into a criminal ordeal.
