The Bryan Museum in Galveston set the stage for the city’s most highly anticipated fundraising event—the 10th Annual Bryan Museum Gala. With over 500 of the area’s most notable leaders, socialites, and philanthropists in attendance, the night was a smashing success.
The Wildcatter’s theme added an exciting flair, and the gala raised a record-breaking $1.3 million for the museum, making it one of the most successful events in the organization’s history.
An Elegant, Texas Twist on Black-Tie
Guests at the gala were treated to a black-tie evening with a Texas twist. While many attendees wore classic black-tie attire, there were plenty of bright colors, prints, metallics, and iconic accessories like cowboy boots and hats.
The mix of elegance and country style helped create a lively, festive atmosphere, making everyone feel like part of a close-knit family.
VIP Reception and Special Guest
The night kicked off with a VIP reception where guests had the opportunity to meet Billy Bob Thornton, the star of the popular Paramount Plus show Landman. Guests snapped pictures with an elaborate Boomtown building façade, which set the perfect tone for a memorable evening.
Cocktail Hour and Silent Auction
After the reception, the party moved into a vibrant cocktail hour. Attendees enjoyed a selection of drinks while taking in the museum’s impressive collection, including the much-discussed Kermit Oliver & Hermes: Storytelling on Silk and Canvas.
The silent auction showcased a range of luxury items and experiences, including high-end vacations and exclusive access to events, all while live music from Libby Koch set a lively mood.
The Main Program and Honorees
As the crowd sat down to a multi-course meal from Culinaire Catering, the evening’s main program began. Organization leaders, including J.P. Bryan, addressed the crowd before the prestigious Bryan Museum History Medal of Honor was awarded.
The medal recognized important figures in the oil and gas industry, such as Ernie H. Cockrell, Mary Ralph Lowe, Trevor Rees-Jones, and the families of Eddy C. Scurlock and R.E. “Bob” Smith, all of whom have made significant contributions to Galveston and beyond.
The Live Auction and Thrilling Bids
A spirited live auction, led by Randolph Holford, brought a sense of excitement to the evening. Guests eagerly raised their paddles to bid on exclusive experiences, including a luxury getaway to San Miguel de Allende, a trip to Croatia, and a VIP experience at the 2026 American Friends of Versailles Gala.
The auction’s success played a major role in helping to raise $1.3 million for the Bryan Museum.
Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters Performance
The night ended on an unforgettable high with a live performance by Billy Bob Thornton and his band, The Boxmasters. The show brought the crowd to their feet, marking the perfect close to an evening full of fun, philanthropy, and celebration.
A Record-Breaking Gala for a Great Cause
The 2025 Wildcatter’s Gala, co-chaired by Dancie and Jim Ware, and Renee and Scott Rice, was a monumental success. The $1.3 million raised at the event will go towards supporting educational and outreach programs at The Bryan Museum, ensuring that its impact on the community continues to grow.
