A disturbing case in Ohio has come to light, where 59-year-old Kenneth Wayne Brabant is accused of murder after swinging a machete at a woman riding on the back of a motorcycle, leading to her tragic death. New details have emerged, shedding light on Brabant’s emotional response to the incident and his subsequent actions.

The Attack and Aftermath

The incident occurred on the night of June 22, when 41-year-old Leigha Huff was riding on the back of a motorcycle with another man on Upper Somers Road in Camden, Ohio. Brabant’s daughter reportedly called 911, saying that her ex was revving his motorcycle and trying to provoke her father.

Moments later, Huff and the man she was with drove down the road, and Brabant allegedly struck Huff in the leg with a machete. The man she was with recalled Huff saying, “Oh my god, I’m hit, I’m hit.” Tragically, Huff bled out before medical assistance could reach her. Neither Huff nor the man knew Brabant or his daughter.

Brabant’s Emotional Reaction

During a court appearance on Wednesday, Preble County Sheriff’s Office Captain Shane Hatfield testified that Brabant became “emotional” and “upset and apologetic” upon learning of Huff’s death.

Brabant reportedly admitted to striking Huff with a machete when interviewed by authorities. He told investigators that he swung at the motorcycle when he saw it coming, but later revealed the weapon he used was a machete.

In an effort to cooperate with the investigation, Brabant reportedly drew a map for deputies to locate the machete, which he had initially cleaned and hidden in the woods behind his home.

Brabant’s Charges and Court Proceedings

Kenneth Brabant has been charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and assault in connection to the death of Leigha Huff. His actions after the attack, including cleaning the blood off the machete and attempting to hide it, led to the tampering charge. Brabant is expected to appear in common pleas court in the coming weeks.

Remembering Leigha Huff

Leigha Huff is being remembered as a loving single mother who was battling cancer for years. Friends described her as “very wonderful” and “charismatic,” with a love for live music. Despite her ongoing struggle with cancer, she raised her son with great strength and determination.

The tragic death of Leigha Huff highlights the dangers of unchecked emotions and impulsive actions. Brabant’s actions, which ultimately led to Huff’s death, serve as a reminder of the devastating consequences of violence.

As the case moves forward, the community remains shocked by the senseless loss of a beloved mother and friend.
