A Florida man is in jail after threatening to “shoot up” a McDonald’s location over missing Chicken McNuggets in his order. The incident took place after Dayton Wayne Schaffer, 18, called the fast-food restaurant three times on his own phone and made alarming threats.
According to authorities, Schaffer was charged with committing a felony using a communication device and falsely reporting a bomb or weapon of mass destruction.
The McDonald’s Threat
On Wednesday at around 1 a.m., McDonald’s employees reported a disturbing threat made by Schaffer. He allegedly called the restaurant and used foul language, threatening to “shoot it up” and “shoot this s— up” because his Chicken McNuggets were left out of his $5 meal deal.
Concerned for their safety, the staff locked the doors and immediately contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities Catch Up With Schaffer
Deputies quickly traced the phone number used to make the threats to Schaffer. When they arrived at his home, his mother confirmed that the phone was his.
They later located Schaffer at a friend’s house, where he admitted to making the threatening calls. Schaffer claimed that the threats were made as a joke, and he did not actually intend to harm anyone at McDonald’s.
