A man was arrested early on Tuesday morning after being caught looking into cars at an apartment complex in Friendswood. The incident occurred at the Baywood Apartments, located in the 4900 block of FM 2351.
Police Respond to Report of Suspicious Person
At approximately 1:26 a.m. on July 1, Friendswood police responded to a call about a suspicious person at the apartment complex. Upon arriving, officers spotted a man who matched the description provided. The suspect attempted to flee from the scene, jumping over a fence, but was quickly apprehended by the officers.
The man was identified as 22-year-old Gary Buchanan from Port St. Lucie, Florida. Buchanan was charged with evading arrest or detention, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Weekend Incidents at Bay Meadows Apartments
This arrest follows a series of incidents at another nearby complex, Bay Meadows Apartments on Blackhawk Boulevard. Over the weekend, police reported three vehicle burglaries and one stolen vehicle from the complex. The police are investigating whether these crimes are connected.
Police Advice for Residents
In light of the recent incidents, Friendswood police are reminding residents to take basic precautions to protect their vehicles. They urge everyone to lock their cars, remove valuables, and report any suspicious activity to the non-emergency line at 281-996-3300.
