A month-long investigation has led to the arrest of Eric Vaughn Gibson II, 33, who is believed to be responsible for a series of aggravated robberies across Pearland, Manvel, and Brazoria County. Gibson’s arrest marks the end of a multi-agency effort to capture the suspected serial robber.
The Robberies: A String of Violent Crimes
Gibson is suspected of committing several aggravated robberies, starting with a robbery on May 19 at a Shell gas station in Pearland. The crime spree continued on June 12 with a robbery at a Buc-ee’s gas station in Pearland.
Gibson is also connected to two aggravated robberies in Brazoria County and one in Manvel. The final robbery occurred on June 24 at a Chevron gas station in Manvel, around 9 p.m.
The Chase and Arrest
Following the Manvel robbery, Gibson led police on a high-speed chase that began in Pearland and ended in Friendswood. The pursuit took officers through several areas before Gibson crashed his vehicle. He then fled on foot through a residential neighborhood.
Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) provided air support during the search, assisting officers on the ground with real-time updates. Pearland Police K9 Bowie was also deployed and tracked Gibson to a backyard.
As Gibson attempted to scale a fence in an effort to escape, he landed directly in front of waiting officers, who took him into custody without further incident.
Charges and Investigation Details
Gibson is now facing five counts of aggravated robbery, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of evading arrest with a vehicle. His bond has been set at a total of $950,000. Gibson was taken to the Pearland Jail, where he was interviewed by investigators.
This operation was a collaborative effort between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Pearland Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, and the Friendswood Police Department.
