The Houston SPCA has rescued 82 animals in two unrelated cases of animal cruelty, which took place less than 24 hours apart.

The first rescue occurred on Tuesday, June 3, in Tomball, where nine cats were found confined in filthy cages without food or water. Sadly, six of these cats were found dead on the property, located near Sorrel Meadows Drive. In addition to the cats, two dogs were rescued from filthy wire kennels.

Later, an investigation led by deputies uncovered a horrific scene in Katy, where 19 neglected dogs were rescued from a home. Tragically, three dead dogs were found at the property as well.

Just one day after the Katy rescue, the SPCA made another shocking discovery in Pasadena, where 70 emaciated dogs were found living in extreme conditions. Along with the dogs, a bird was rescued. The inside of the home was found to be contaminated with urine and feces, and cluttered with debris.

All the rescued animals are now receiving medical care and attention.

The Houston SPCA emphasized the importance of community involvement in stopping animal cruelty. “We share these types of cruelty cases because they are a powerful reminder of how we rely on the community to report animal neglect and abuse, so we can respond swiftly when animals are in distress,” the organization said in a release. “A phone call or online report can be the difference between suffering and safety for countless animals. Speaking up truly saves lives.”

The organization encourages the public to report any signs of animal cruelty through their website.
