Eric Gomez, aged 36, the owner of EG AUTO, located at 4631 Highway 6 in Freddiesville, has been arrested and charged with theft of property and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Investigation and Arrest

The investigation into Gomez began on May 29, 2025, when the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle at EG AUTO. Deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of the stolen vehicle on the property, prompting the involvement of the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force (ACTF).

Discovery of Stolen Vehicles and Firearm

While executing a search warrant, the ACTF investigators uncovered two stolen vehicles at the site, along with an illegal firearm. Gomez was questioned but had to be transported by emergency medical services for an unrelated medical issue.

Criminal Charges

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the findings and approved charges against Gomez, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants. On June 2, 2025, a joint effort by the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) led to Gomez’s arrest.

Charges and Bond Details

Eric Gomez now faces multiple charges:

  • Theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000 (Bond: $10,000)
  • Theft of property valued between $750 and $2,500 (Bond: $2,500)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon (Bond: $40,000)
