Plano, TX – A quiet Plano neighborhood was shaken Saturday morning after a fatal shooting occurred on Hillridge Drive, prompting an active investigation by Plano Police.
Officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Hillridge Drive, where they discovered a man in his 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors reported hearing several loud bangs followed by a woman screaming, with one witness saying it sounded like “a car backfiring, then chaos.” Police have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.
As of Saturday evening, authorities confirmed that one person of interest was being interviewed but had not been formally arrested. Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and interviewing neighbors to piece together the timeline of events.
“We want to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident,” said Plano Police Public Information Officer Jennifer Chapman. “There is no known threat to the community at this time.”
Crime scene investigators remained at the scene for most of the day, collecting evidence and documenting the surroundings. Police say they are looking into whether the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic disturbance.
