Vigil 5 p.m. Sunday for victims of mass shooting at Allen Premium Outlets

Cottonwood Creek Church will host a community-wide vigil to remember the fallen who lost their lives. The vigil will start at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities reported seven dead immediately when a gun man opened fire on shoppers at Allen Premium Outlets on a sunny hot Saturday afternoon. Two more shooting victims died after being transported to area hospitals.

The gun man who stepped out of his car and began shooting killed nine and wounded others trapped near Express Factory Outlet and H&M outlet stores on a busy Saturday.

An Allen Police officer already at the outlet center on a previous police call, heard gun shots, ran toward the sound and shot the shooter in the eye and head, witnesses said. The shooter, who was heavily armed and wearing tactical gear, died on scene after being stopped by the Allen Police Officer.

The vigil is open to public at Cottonwood Creek Sunday. The church is situated at 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, TX 75013.

No names have been released by police. The victims, ages 5 to 61, include an entire family. Three others are in critical condition after surgery at local hospitals.
