Hiking Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano TX

When you hike Oak Point, see if you can spot this dragon in the woods deep into Bobcat Run in the nature preserve. Looks menacing with sun setting behind it in the wetlands area.

Oak Point Nature Preserve offers relaxing spots where your feet stay dry along the wooden crossing. Try the trail just down hill from park and zip line offices at 5901 Los Rios Blvd. Plano TX 75074. Cross Rowlett Creek bridge to reach the wetlands.

Plenty of room to get away, just a few minutes from U.S. 75 in Plano TX. The park was being used by rollerbladers, parents with strollers, cyclists, hikers, kids with new fishing poles and runners on today’s after Christmas visit.

Take Bobcat Run if you want to get off the wider path. The wooden trail let’s you cross areas that may be wet after rain. The creek is winding through Oak Point. Look for the Austin Chalk formation when you find the creek.

On one-hour getaway at the park and lake we spotted a horses, dogs, squirrels, lizards, ducks, geese, crane along the forest creek trails and Blackland Prairie. Even saw one guy reel in a fish with his dad. A lot to do and see in Plano TX. The park is east of U.S. 75. The recreation center is on Spring Creek at Jupiter. Across Spring Creek, you can find miles of trails for walking, running or biking. The horse riding trails are along Los Rios on the lake side of the nature preserve.
