Dear Frisco ISD Parents and Guardians,
Starting in a few hours, the primary parent or guardian contact for each registered Frisco ISD student will receive an email with a link to a commitment form for the 2020-21 school year. This message is intended to provide greater context for that email.
First, Frisco ISD would like to thank you for the patience and understanding you have shown during this tumultuous time. The District has been planning and preparing for a number of scenarios for the coming school year while looking to guidance and direction from the state. The information we have received regarding how to proceed has changed weekly or even daily up to this point and may continue to change as COVID-19 case numbers fluctuate.
Knowing that you need information to plan for the new school year and that we have limited time to prepare for students to return to the classroom, Frisco ISD has taken the guidance we have received from the state and worked to develop processes and guidelines where none have been given. On our District website, you will find the school model outlines for both virtual learning and on-campus learning. The most current information is on these pages.
We will continue to add more information as it becomes available so that you are able to make the most educated decision possible as to which learning environment is best for your student. It is important to note that the information you see on these web pages may change over time based on direction issued by the state. We recommend that you check these sites often and regularly.
The commitment form will be due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 10. While the District is asking you to make a decision in the next two weeks regarding how your child will start the new school year, please know that we understand that you are having to make this decision based on the current situation with COVID-19 and with potentially changing information. As a result, FISD will allow parents to change their students’ learning model after the school year begins. The District will communicate this process at a later time.
The virtual learning model, also called Virtual Academy, is an opt-in program. If the District does not receive a commitment form for a student by July 10, it will be automatically assumed that the student will attend on-campus classes on the first day of school.
We have updated our FAQ to reflect the hundreds of questions that were submitted over this past week. We know you will continue to have questions regarding the upcoming school year, and we are working to respond as quickly as possible while also updating the FAQ on our website. We encourage you to take a look at the FAQ to see if an answer to your question is already listed.
Another email will follow shortly from email@example.com with the subject line “Frisco ISD 2020-2021 School Year Commitment Form.”
If you have more than one student in Frisco ISD schools, you will receive a separate email for each individual student. The primary contact listed for each student will receive the form, similar to the snap codes sent via email which begin the annual registration process for returning students. Please allow up to 24 hours to receive this email as it can take time for the system to process such a large volume of emails.
We value each of our students and families and appreciate the trust you have placed in our school system. We look forward to seeing you for the 2020-21 school year.
