Police report: 44-year-old Garland man charged with Plano home burglaries

By David Tilley, Plano Police Department

Plano, along with several other cities around, have been experiencing some residential burglaries that targeted Asians. Our detectives, along with those from the Richardson Police Department, worked tirelessly to identify and later arrested 44-year old Dien Ba Ngo from Garland, Texas.

As a result of their hard work, they were also about to located property taken from several other burglaries in different cities. Some of these offenses date to 2018.

The method of operation of this subject was to knock on the front door to see if anyone is home. If he received no response, he would then walk around back and break in to commit his theft.

I know we have talked about this before but if someone comes up to your home you are not expecting and you don’t know them, do not open the door but do answer it.

Announce that you are there behind the locked door asking what they want. There have been incidents reported where someone was home and never responded to the door only to find out later it was a burglar breaking through a back window.

In addition, make sure those back gates are locked. Criminals are looking for the easy target.

If you want to know how to make your home more burglar-proof, contact our Crime Prevention Unit at 972-941-2431 and set up a FREE Home Security Assessment.

All it takes is about an hour or so to get some great tips on ways you can “harden the target” at your home.
