Daniel Cox teaches special education social studies at Plano West. He was recently recognized as secondary schools teacher of the year for Plano ISD.
He said he became a teacher because he wanted to help others, be an inspiration and mentor. His favorite part of teaching is every day is different. Each of his students has an individualized education program.
“The best part of being a teacher is being able to help my students with more than just academics,” Cox said. “I want to be a motivator.”
His key to success: “I focus on building relationships with my students.”
