Boys 6A Basketball State Semifinal: Allen Eagles 70, Austin Westlake 55; next Katy Tompkins in final #AUP

Jaylen Walker, Jerritt Dixon, Isaiah Stevens and Jaylon Scott led Allen in scoring as the Eagles beat the Austin Westlake Chaparrals, 70-55, to capture the Class 6A State Semifinal Boys Basketball game Friday night to advance to the state championship.

The Allen Eagles (33-5) play Katy Tompkins at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the state 6A championship game (TV: FoxSportsSW) in The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

On Friday, Walker scored 16 points, including two 3-pointers and pulled down four rebounds.

Stevens, starting at guard for Allen along with Brenton Mills hit twice from 3-point range, made an assist and had two rebounds and finished with 14 points.

Forwards Scott and Walker combined for 30 of Allen’s 70 points. Walker made six of 11 shots on the floor and sank both of his free-throw attempts. Scott made 5-of-5 of his shots during the game and added four points on free throws.

Scott boosted Allen with four defensive rebounds and finished with five. Scott and Mills each stole the ball twice from the Chaparrals.

Mills scored five points and made two assists.

Jordan Neely made two assists, and Korey Jones contributed a rebound.

Donovan Parham scored nine points, made an assist and added a rebound and a 3-pointer for the Eagles.

Allen led by four after the first quarter and by 30-28 at halftime. The Eagles outscored Westlake (36-4) in the second half, 40 to 27.

Scouting report: Katy Tompkins (31-8) edged South Garland, 80-76, in overtime in the 6A State Semifinals for a chance to play Allen.

The Falcons are making their first trip to the state final.

South Garland guard Tyrese Maxey scored 46 for the Colonels to pass SMU and Dallas Roosevelt post Ira Terrell for scoring points in a game at the state tournament.

South Garland finished at 36-3.
