Dallas Cowboys Star report: Dak, Dez strike fast in win over Colts

By Brian Bearden

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott says timing is better than ever with receiver Dez Bryant after going 95 yards before hitting Dez with a 32-yard touchdown pass.

Prescott was 4 of 4 on the opening drive. Bryant caught the first of four passes for 23 yards.

Prescott completed 7 of 8 vs. the Colts and the touchdown pass in Dallas’ 24-19 preseason NFL

victory on Saturday night. …

Quarterback understudy Cooper Rush went 4 for 4 on his first drive with a touchdown against the Colts. Dallas scored again on the next drive on a Rush TD pass to Lance Lenore.

The Cowboys had more excitement in the early part of the fourth quarter on a 20-yard run by #45 Rod Smith of Ohio State.

Linebacker Jaylon Smith of Notre Dame says it is a dream come true to be on same team with his brother. Smith was the defensive player of the game Saturday.

Allen’s Uzoma Nwachukwu, the wide receiver from Texas A&M, had a good play for the Cowboys.

Sports trivia: Fred Brown caught a touchdown pass for the Colts late in the game. One of his last catches in college was on a pass from Dak Prescott.

Only one roster cut this summer, going from 90 to 53 players Sept. 1.

Big loss: Former Arkansas football coach Frank Broyles passed away this week. Broyles had a big impact on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who attended the memorial service.

Next, the Cowboys will be back in Frisco practicing at The Star. Have you made plans to see the Cowboys practice? Note: Practices are already sold out at The Star. You will need a ticket to get into practice.

“Our guys are playing hard, and it was good seeing the young guys flying around,” owner Jerry Jones said. “I like the attitude. It is exciting.”
