Lightning strike hits Plano home; family of five saved by 14-year-old gamer who smelled smoke

Lightning has struck a Plano home in Timber Brook tonight around 2 a.m. just east of Jupiter Road west of Cottonwood Creek, south of Chaparral Road and north of Oak Point Park.

A teenage gamer smelled smoke, woke of his mom and dad and two sisters. One of the parents is reported to be a Plano teacher.

Lightning destroyed the roof and other parts of the structure as flames spread around the house.

The fire is reported in the intersection of Bright Star Way and Cloverhaven Way in northeast Plano.
