Allen’s Bo Nickal wins national wrestling title as Penn State pins down second straight NCAA championship

BoNickalPennStatePenn State wrestler Bo Nickal wins national championship, 4-3, over Cornell’s Gabe Dean in the 184-pound category. Nickal is an Allen Eagle alum. He is majoring in kinesiology. His parents are Jason and Sandy Nickal.

Bo Nickal was one of the nation’s top high school wrestlers at Allen, and he brought three Texas state titles (and one runner-up) with him to Happy Valley. Nickal  led Allen High School to four straight dual meet titles and four straight state team championships. He finished his high school career with a 183-7 record, including 131 pins.

Did you know? Bo Nickal’s parents were both collegiate athletes, with his mom playing basketball at San Diego State (Calif.), and his father playing football for the Chadron State Eagles in Nebraska.

PennStatewrestlePenn State tallies 146.5 total team points for the 2017 NCAA title and ties the NCAA record for most individual titles with five. The NCAA wrestling championship is Penn State’s second straight, sixth in last seven years and seventh overall.
