Mauro Diaz, David Texeira and Kellen Acosta scored goals in FC Dallas’ 4-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Sunday. Texeira scored twice as FC Dallas clinched the MLS playoffs and beat Houston for the fifth consecutive time.
Texeira scored to make it 2-1 in the 51st minute of play.
Tied at 1-1 – Texeira took a pass from Zach Loyd and sent off a 25-yard shot.
“I still can’t believe I scored that goal. Always as a striker you try to create chances to shoot from outside the goal,” Texeira said. “I think it’s one of the best goals I’ve scored since I started playing professionally.”
Costa gave FC Dallas a 3-1 lead with a goal in the 55th minute.
“I’m happy for the team and for myself,” Texeira said after Sunday’s win. “I think we did a great job today. It was what we needed, three points to get in the playoffs, so we’re happy.”
Earlier in the game, Diaz put FC Dallas on the board in the 25th minute.
Ricardo Clarke of the Dynamo tied the score at 1-1 in the 36th minute.
