Collin County Budget Update
Third consecutive year of property tax rate cuts
Last week, the commissioners court adopted the official budget and property tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year. Here are some of the highlights from the adopted budget:

  • FY 2016 Combined (total) Budget: $310.2 million (FY 2015: $301.5 million)
  • FY 2016 Operating Funds: $208.9 million (FY 2015: $191.8 million)
  • FY 2016 Debt Service Funds: $52.3 million (FY 2015: $45.5 million)
  • FY 2016 All Other Funds: $49 million (FY 2015: $64.2 million)
  • Total property values (countywide) increased 7.6% year-over-year, for existing properties
  • New construction (countywide) added an additional 3.2% in property values
  • The average home value in Collin County is now $285,292, up from $257,767 last year
  • The commissioners court lowered the property tax rate for the third consecutive year, from $0.235 to $0.225. This marks the 23rd consecutive year that Collin County has gone without a property tax increase!
