Prestonwood 6-9 power forward Julius Randle has recruiting visits scheduled for Kansas, North Carolina State and Texas. Randle has been to Kentucky and Florida. 

Frisco Centennial won its seventh in a row but had a scare when senior quarterback Lamar Jordan took a shot on a tackle after a 20-yard run in a 32-18 win over Kimball in the Class 4A football playoffs at Loos Field. Jordan finished with four touchdowns and 204 yards passing after finally getting up from the smack down. A worried Coach Mark Howard said, “He said at halftime in the locker room that he was going to be fine. Fortunately, he bounced back from that.” Senior Cydney Calvin had the game-highlight moment when he returned the opening kick of the second half 72 yards. Centennial plays Red Oak in the next round.

In the red: Frisco ISD ranks fifth in the state among school districts in debt with $1.2 billion in outstanding debt. Plano ISD stands ninth, according the Texas State Comptroller Susan Combs. Plano ISD has $976.6 million in total outstanding debt.

Shelter: What will a growing county do about stray animals? That’s coming up soon before the county commissioners. Plano and Allen have their own animal shelters while the Collin County Animal Shelter provides services to Anna, Celina, Fairview, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Melissa, Princeton and Prosper on a one-year contract. Frisco’s city council has passed a resolution asking the county to increase staffing at the shelter. – Brian Bearden
