Hill ‘TEA Approved’ in commissioners race

CPA Chris Hill, a McKinney resident running for Collin County Commissioner Precinct 3, announced Monday that he won the McKinney Tea Party straw poll with 58 percent of the vote.

Hill also picked up the North Texas Tea Party’s “Tea Approved” designation. The Tea Approved endorsement is awarded to the candidate whose “background, experience, actions, and voluntary associations” indicate that he will be a champion of the five principles of the tea party once in office. Those five principles are limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, the rule of law, and national (and state) sovereignty.

“I’m thrilled that our local tea party groups have identified me as the conservative, experienced candidate for county commissioner,” Hill said. “I share the same passion for limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, the rule of law, and national sovereignty. I’m honored to be ‘Tea Approved,’ and to have won the McKinney Tea Party straw poll.”

The CPA has a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting. Laura and Chris have been married for 14 years and have three children. They are active members of Christ Fellowship church in McKinney.

Stiletto Strut for Star Children’s Charity March 29

The shoe-lovers of Collin County are strutting for the children March 29 at the Neiman Marcus Willow Bend Stiletto Strut benefitting Star Children’s Charity and its designated beneficiary, Plano Children’s Medical Clinic.
This is a not-to-be missed opportunity to show off a runway-worthy strut in your favorite shoes and join girlfriends for a lunch of high fashion, fun and philanthropy for the children of Collin County. This is the third annual Stiletto Strut and the demand grows every year.

As always, Neiman Marcus Willow Bend is hosting a designer shoe raffle where one lucky woman will receive not one but three pairs of designer shoes valued at $1,800. Tickets are $100 each, and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Plano Children’s Medical Clinic.

The event features Honorary Chair, Amy Vanderoef of Channel 8 WFAA-TV Good Morning Texas; co-chairs by three generations of the fabulous Muns family: Betty Muns, Joa Muns and Jenna Muns-Maynard. They will be joined by “Star Strutters” who are leading the fundraising efforts; Sandy Brennan, Jodi Danna Denton, Shay Geyer, Ashleigh Paulk, Jan Richey and Cathy Vieth. Gleneagles Country Club has partnered with Star and Neiman Marcus to provide the lunch cuisine. Wedge Sponsors are the Ron and Paula Parker family. Pump Sponsors are Jennifer Barnes, Julia Fuller, Ronelle Ianace, Julie Karnes, Betty Muns and Joa Muns.

“I am thrilled to be joined by my family and so many women who are dedicated to raising funds to improve services for medical, education, enrichment and safety through nonprofit organizations in Collin County serving children,” Betty Muns said. “On behalf of the committee we are grateful to Neiman Marcus Willow Bend, Gleneagles Country Club and Boardwalk Motors for their support.”

Proceeds from this event will go to Star Children’s Charity beneficiary, Plano Children’s Medical Clinic who provides critical medical care to children with little or no insurance. They offer two important programs for preventive health, “Get Off the Couch and Play” and “Let’s Get Physical” both encouraging children to exercise, eat healthy and prevent early disease such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Sponsorships and ticket reservations for the Stiletto Strut are available at http://www.StarChildrens.com or by calling 972.943.3344. Packages begin at $150. Space is limited and advance reservations are required.
