Pitt’s Todd Graham will be the next Arizona State coach, not SMU’s June Jones. SMU plays Pitt (6-6) in the Jan. 7 BBVA Compass Bowl, formerly the Birmingham Bowl. Graham will be the one telling his team he won’t be there for the bowl game. Before his rise in the college ranks, Graham was the Allen High School coach.
Graham played for North Mesquite and East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, where he was a two-time All-NAIA defensive back. Graham had a brief stint with the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL.
He became an assistant at Mesquite Poteet before eventually getting to Allen. He went from Allen to West Virginia as an assistant, then Rice and Tulsa as head coach before taking over at Pitt.
