Police warn about burglaries, check-forging

Stolen purse from vehicle: In the 3500 block of Flying A Trail of McKinney police responded to a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. The complainant stated that she had run into the school to pick up her child and had left her vehicle running. During that time, unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle and stole her purse.

What to do: The McKinney PD encourages all residents to secure their vehicles, take their keys and hide property within their vehicle when the vehicle is unoccupied.

Be careful at daycare centers: Detectives have uncovered a statewide check-forging ring. Detectives have learned that victim’s identities and stolen checks are being used in multiple Texas cities. Most burglaries occur at daycare centers throughout the state while children are being dropped off or picked up.

The total amount stolen from banks so far is estimated at over $100,000. Banks and daycare centers have been targeted as far away as the Austin and San Antonio areas. The ongoing investigations suggest that Collin, Dallas, Tarrant, and Travis counties have been hit the hardest.
