GOP chair says thanks to voters

Greetings,

Wow! What an Election Day “Victory” for us. Last Tuesday our results were outstanding from our County to Washington. The message was loud and clear about “Taking our Country Back” and going back to conservative principles and values, which is the foundation of our Republican Party.

Thank you and the tremendous volunteers that helped our County get the strong GOP turnout and results we did. You are extraordinary for your help and support. You can see from the results what a “BIG” difference your efforts made for Candidates, Party and Country.

We are forever grateful for your help and support.

Fred Moses
Collin County Republican Party Chairman

Traffic delays expected on Custer Road (FM 2478); FM 1378 closed for work

Under the supervision of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), construction crews for contractor Mario Sinacola and Sons will begin closing portions of Custer Road between South Stonebridge Drive and U.S. Highway 380 (U.S. 380) Sunday, November 7, at 5 a.m. After Sunday, closures are scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and weather permitting, this phase of construction will wrap up by Thursday, November 11.

The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public, as well as the contractor, while paving operations take place. “We worked closely with the cities and contractor to try and keep Custer Road open” said John Hudspeth, TxDOT Collin County Area Engineer. “Unfortunately, there’s not enough space to safely accommodate drivers, construction crews and heavy equipment in the construction zone during this phase of the project.”

Detour routes will be marked, and message boards announcing the closure will be placed to notify the public in advance. South and North Stonebridge Drive, West Eldorado Parkway, Independence Parkway and Virginia Parkway are the primary detour routes. A detour map identifying secondary detour routes is available for download at the following link:

This work is part of a $33.7 million construction project to widen Custer Road from 2-lanes to 6-lanes between South Stonebridge Drive and U.S. 380. The estimated project completion is summer 2012. TxDOT and Mario Sinacola and Sons Excavating Inc. would like to thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Frisco, the City of McKinney and Collin County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work hard to complete this project as soon, and as safely, as possible.

Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will temporarily close FM 1378 at the intersection with FM 544 from Saturday, November 6 at 5 a.m. to Sunday, November 7 at 10 p.m.

During the closure KCS Railroad crews will complete the new crossing for the realigned FM 1378. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public, as well as contractor crews and TxDOT inspectors.

TxDOT asks motorists to drive carefully through the work zone, and has placed message boards to notify the public of the scheduled closure. Motorists wishing to use the intersection of FM 1378 and FM 544 during the closure will be detoured as follows:

* From southbound FM 1378 – to FM 3412 to FM 2514 to SH 78 and finally FM 544
* From eastbound FM 544 – to SH 78 to FM 2514 to FM 3412 and finally FM 1378

TxDOT would like to thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Wylie, and Collin County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.

What’s your favorite song about Texas?

What’s your favorite song about Texas?
If you like Texas music, Gary P. Nunn will be at Hank’s Texas Grill . Tickets are $12 at the door, and the show starts at 9 p.m.
“What I Like About Texas” is one of his best known hits.
Nunn has been playing Texas dance halls and is one of the founding father of the progressive country movement out of Austin in the 1970s that changed the face of popular music, when Austin hippies and Hill Country cowboys found out they enjoyed the same music.
Nunn’s “London Homesick Blues” — with its internationally known “I wanna go home with the Armadillo” chorus — is a signature Texas country song that was the theme for the PBS concert TV show “Austin City Limits” for nearly three decades. It’s no wonder that All Music Guide hails him as “a Texas music institution.”
